In 1997 Richmond Laser Works was born from a need to offer customers a product that was unique only to their desires.

Most rubber stamp shops these days have a laser engraver at their disposal, and most shops use their lasers to produce rubber stamps, engraved signs, and embossing seals. Richmond Stamp Works is that arm of my business.

While making the usual products at Richmond Stamp Works I found a nitch that was not being covered by most stamp shops. This nitch was to help the designers of products, advertising, point of purchase displays, specialty products as well as the print industry. This segment of the creative community needed to be able to push their ideas in a different direction using a new process.

My friend James came in to my shop one day and asked if I had an interesting way to print on paper. I let him know that I did not have any print capabilities but we decided to give laser-engraving paper a try. To expose the inner layers of paper by vaporizing the surface was an amazing process, such a permanent mark to be made in paper simply by removing it.

This day changed forever the way that I was going to use the laser. I am not necessarily the creator of a project but I am a facilitator and team member. An idea is born, brought to me, and I make my customers ideas work with the laser environment.

Please view this website with interest not only in the objects that are presented but also the production process that is involved. The laser is a wonderful tool not only for production but also for creative expression.
